A MAJOR campaign to bring criminals to justice has made a flying start.
Crimestoppers arrived in Gosport and Havant with a van displaying the area’s most wanted on a large display screen.
Already some of the appeals for people hunted by police have been stopped after information poured in.
Simon Hayes, Hampshire’s police and crime commissioner, said: ‘Certainly it generated a lot of interest and we know that sometimes people think about it overnight and the next day and will then phone the number. It’s not just what’s done on the day, The important thing is that the information people give to Crimestoppers is anonymous.’
More than 100 people are being hunted in the Most Wanted appeal in Hampshire and the Isle of Wight.
Full details can be seen on the independent charity’s website crimestoppers-uk.org
Call the charity on 0800 555 111 with any information about the appeals.
All information is taken anonymously – even when details are sent by text the sender’s number is masked so workers cannot see who sends the message.
There is also a form on the website allowing people to give information anonymously.
