It has been identified that a self harming online game called ‘Blue Whale’ encourages young people to self harm for 50 days and then commit suicide on the last day. Young people carve a whale on their forearm.
We understand it originates in Russia, and that there have been increased numbers of suicide in Russia and already two completed suicide incidents in Hampshire and two near misses.
If you come across any young person who may be playing this game, please consider them to be significantly increased risk of self-harm and suicide.
