Citizens Advice Gosport has teamed up with Trading Standards to give people the knowledge to spot potential scams.
The two organisations will be holding a ‘Spam or Scam’ session at Gosport Discovery Centre on Friday, July 21st at 10am.
Valerie Kelly, chief executive of Citizens Advice Gosport, said: ‘Knowing how to spot a scam is the best line of defence against being scammed.
‘While scammers will always use tactics like cut-price deals and pressure selling to draw people in, there are more ways for scammers to reach people with different bogus offers.
‘People will be able to take away a few key tips from the event which will help protect them against a range of different scams.
‘People are reluctant to talk about scams; we want to bring the issue out in the open.’
