Police have been informed of a male who is visiting addresses in Gosport offering services to driveways. This male has a strong Irish accent and has reportedly been very intimidating to one resident when he refused to have any work done.
Please take care and report any such activity to police via 101. If any such person calls at your address, please note the following advice:
1. Ask for identification – if he is a legitimate company, he will not mind providing this.
2. If you get a quote for work, ask him to put it in writing – some companies will up the price whilst doing the work. Once it is in writing, the price cannot change.
3. Only accept work if YOU think it is needed and not if it has been recommended by company.
4. Ask for references – some companies will show you pictures of work they have done but this could be pictures of anyone’s drives and not work they have carried out.
5. If in doubt, do not open the door and take note of any car/van registrations.
