Police are appealing for information after an incident in which a taxi driver was the victim of a robbery in Gosport.
The 52-year-old victim drove his cab to an address in Tribe Road at about 1am on Monday, June 20, to collect a passenger.
An unknown male, who used his arms to cover his face, approached the vehicle from an alleyway and opened one of the car’s doors.
He jumped into the front of the taxi and threatened the driver, demanding he hand over cash.
The driver then fled from the vehicle, which he had started to reverse, and ran into Vernon Road, followed by the unknown male.
The driver threw money at the man after which the man ran off in the direction of Whitworth Road.
A Hampshire Constabulary spokeswoman said yesterday: "Were you in Tribe Road or Vernon Road at around this time?
"Did you see what happened or see a man running away?"
Anyone with information is asked to contact Detective Constable Emma Roberts at Fratton CID on 101 or call the Crimestoppers charity anonymously on 0800 555111.
